FINAL FANTASY 7 AND WHY I LOVE ART (WIP)

Our world is dying, and we can't really do much about it. It would be cool to see a group like AVALANCHE, people who despite facing overwhelming odds try to make the world a better place, even after they've lost everything, but that kind of idealism is hard to find and when it does happen it truly changes everything. The world of Final Fantasy 7 has a melancholic, dreamlike, sometimes hopeful, sometimes crushing feeling to it, only furthered by its complex and ambitious story that took 3 full discs to tell and now 3 games (although I don't like them very much...). This game and its story have such personal and strong themes, carried by the most important thing of all, honesty, genuine passion, bravery, something missing in so much media nowadays, and that gets harder and harder to find the more time goes by, when was the last time you have watched a modern movie or played a modern game that can be genuinely whimsical and childlike while not being ashamed of it? That had things like Moogle House, Chocobo racing, Cait Sith (just in general), things that make you smile, laugh, even cry and that reflect how absurd life can be, all the wonder and sadness of living and the human experience, how much of that is missing in today's landscape? Not saying it's non-existent, but we need this, this is amazing and it needs to be preserved, for us.

Final Fantasy 7 is one of those once in a lifetime, lightning in a bottle type of games with so many diverging elements and themes that somehow fit together into one perfect and ambitious experience that leaves you wondering how all that could even be done at the time, but how they had to work around the limitations made something amazing. The character models are so simple but so expressive and well-animated, you can tell their personalities and the way they are just from the way they move and talk, with no need for even voice acting (which I don't think is necessary at all in a game like this), the game has such a cinematic feel with so much work around the complex and honestly beautiful backgrounds and FMVs to make it all blend in seamlessly (at the time), the effort is genuinely captivating and they utilized every resource they had to make it as immersive as possible to the player.
